Getting Started At Cyber Playgroundz

Where to begin. So we are starting this journey for a number of reasons. We will discuss a few of these in a minute to put things into context but, first we would like to thank you for stopping by our little corner of the internet. We hope you will engage with us, or maybe even provide us some feedback. Whatever you choose to do, we hope you enjoy your time here and hopefully we will connect with you very soon.

We are cyber security professionals. A key component of being successful in some of the jobs in that field, requires someone to have very good documentation skills. Which is something that does not come easily to everyone (spoiler alert, I am one of them). Some of us were gifted with great artistic creation, or the ability to run fast, or the ability to craft beautifully written reports. So with that in mind, we want to first use this platform as a way to increase the quality of our written reports. This is obviously available for everyone on the interwebz to see, so it will force us to take care with how we complete our writeups. Secondly, since we are here, we figured we could also use this platform to share with others in, or trying to get in to, this industry. We are not experts, nor does anyone here claim to be however, we feel there might just be some tidbits of information that we can offer to the community and we will share those here as well.

We will be posting writeups for various tasks and/or boxes on platforms such as TryHackMe, Hack The Box and Offensive Security’s Proving Grounds. We will also be posting articles on the individual platforms and what you can expect to find there and some tips on how to get started. A lot of our focus (for now) will be the offensive or “red team” side of things. But, there will be defensive or “blue team” type of content that will be put out from time to time.

Disclaimer: depending on when you read the writeups and using the tools used in them, some tools may no longer work in the manner shown and we might not go back to correct any changes. Just be aware of this and you should be able to search (google is your friend here) your way around it.

Again, we thank you for joining us and keeping us in check with our writeups. We hope you will also get some value out of our additional content that we will be posting and we hope to see you hacking soon! Welcome to Cyber Playgroundz!
